CORROSION AND MATERIALS ENGINEER

Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in chemical technology, oil and gas areas or in the relevant speciality and not less than 2 years of work experience as Corrosion and Materials Engineer

Main functions:

• Ensure Corrosion Management System implementation across all KPO Process Facilities;
• Monitoring of internal and external corrosion in all process facilities, including pipelines, monitoring and measuring Corrosion of Key Performance Indicators and providing cost effective recommendations to minimize corrosion. Applying the best corrosion practices in compliance with Local and International codes, norms and standards;
• Support to Lead Corrosion and Materials Engineer in the review of relevant documentation, preparation of Material Selection report and failure analysis.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

• Engineering knowledge of corrosion, inspection and maintenance and integrity management, especially on materials/corrosion engineering, including:
• Process safety; International codes and standards; Corrosion assessment, modelling and calculations;
• Chemical Treatments: corrosion & scales inhibitors, biocides, oxygen and H2S scavenger;
• Corrosion monitoring and non-destructive techniques;
• Coating and painting systems (organic/metallic);
• Failure analysis or root cause assessment;
• Material selection;
• Fundamentals of welding;
• Basic knowledge of fitness for services assessments for pressure equipment, pipeworks & pipelines;
• Cathodic protection systems;
• Risk assessment / risk based inspection principles, processes and implementation;
• Opex / Capex formulation budget.
• Knowledgeable about subsurface and surface oil & gas process facilities and processes;
• Skilled in corrosion principles, corrosion control, corrosion management, process, reliability, operations, inspection and maintenance;
• Demonstrated analytical and report writing capabilities;
• PC literate;
• Interpersonal skills and communicability;
• Time management skills;
• Team player.
