Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in instrument, automation and control areas or in the relevant speciality and not less than 4 years of work experience in the position of Instrument Engineer or other positions held by specialists with higher education.

Main functions:

  • Define instrument and electrical requirements to complete feasibility studies and technical reports in order to technically evaluate the analyzed enhancement opportunities;
  • Provide expert support to the focal points during work order preparation;
  • Supervise the work of the subordinate personnel and assign tasks;
  • Perform investigations, equipment surveys, feasibility studies, calculations, simulations, conceptual design, production of drawings, engineering reports and scopes of work, cost estimation, equipment and material specification and procurement;
  • Supervise instrument/process control engineering and feasibility work assigned to external design institutes and engineering companies; maintain the progress and quality of this work;
  • Report progress of all assigned work to the Field Engineering Superintendent;
  • Participate in the risk assessment and hazard and operability studies of designs;
  • Perform peer and inter-discipline checks on work by engineers within and outside the Project Execution Team;
  • Ensure the selection of cost effective designs and materials, taking into account operating costs and standardization of equipment;
  • Control technical compliance of purchased equipment and materials;
  • Ensure compliance of assigned instrument engineering work with the terms of the design brief or technical assignment and applicable specifications, codes and standards and materials;
  • Supervise acceptance testing of purchased instrumentation equipment;
  • Provide instrument/process control to the teams constructing and commissioning the modified or new plant;
  • Study best domestic and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard of electrical engineering practice for use in design;
  • Complete assigned work on time to meet the process enhancement requirement;
  • Interface Vendors and Consultant for technical evaluation and Unit performance analysis.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

  • Mastery English is an advantage on this role;
  • Onshore oil & gas upstream facilities;
  • Engineering practice for project concept selection and FEED study;
  • Plant E/I in the oil and gas industry;
  • Valve data sheets, Fire & Gas detectors and safety requirements;
  • RoK and international codes. Regulations and standards relating to piping engineering;
  • Latest developments and current best practice in Instrument/ control engineering;
  • Technical report writing;
  • Time management;
  • Computer literacy.
