SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER (in desigining)

Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in сivil area or in the relevant technical speciality and not less than 4 years of work experience in the position of Civil Engineer.

Main functions:

• Deliver all Civil engineering design activities within schedule whilst maintaining technical integrity and complying with HSE Values.
• Maintain the integrity of civil design in the Karachaganak asset.
• Co-ordinate the Civil design with other disciplines to comply with project specifications and requirements.
• Complete assigned work on time to meet KPO schedules. The work will include: investigations, surveys, feasibility studies, calculations, conceptual design, detailed design, production of drawings, engineering reports and scopes of work, cost estimation, equipment and material specification and procurement.
• Review and control any discipline design work carried out by third parties, vendors or Design Institutes ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
• Make recommendation and conclusions to technical documentation received from third party organizations for drafts of standards and technical terms.
• Interface with engineering services contactors (on engineering, procurement, construction) to review, validate and accept and accept their Civil work and deliverables (calculations, design, specifications, etc.) that have been developed.
• Liaise and attend meetings with other disciplines, departments, project personnel, third parties, vendors or Design Institutes as necessary to meet delivery dates.
• Report progress of all assigned work to the Lead Civil Engineer.
• Investigate civil engineering issues.
• Issue high quality, cost effective designs and reports in a timely manner.
• Participate in the risk assessment and hazard and operability studies of designs.
• Engineer civil changes and additions.
• Perform peer and inter-discipline checks on work by engineers within and outside Engineering Department.
• Ensure compliance of assigned civil engineering work with the terms of the design brief or technical assignment and applicable specifications, codes and standards.
• Ensure the selection of cost effective designs and materials, taking into account operating costs and standardization of equipment.
• Control technical compliance of purchased civil materials.
• Study best domestic and international civil engineering practice for use in design.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

• mastery English is an advantage on this role;
• onshore oil and gas upstream facilities including process plants, pipelines, wells, utilities and off sites in cold, remote regions;
• engineering practice for detailed design engineering and preparation of work packs;
• structures and installations in the oil and gas industry;
• methods for specifying civil works;
• civil theory and its practical implementation;
• RoK and international codes, regulations and standards relating to the preparation of technical documentation;
• RoK civil contractor work and business culture;
• the latest developments and current best practice in civil engineering;
• assess quality of technical requirements for projects;
• hazardous area classification and equipment.
