Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in geology area or the relevant speciality and not less than 2 years of work experience as Well Site Geologist.

Main functions:

  • Perform geological duties at rigsites during drilling, coring, logging and workover operations in a safe and efficient manner and ensure quality control of geological contractors and their compliance to the program;
  • Witness all logging operations and ensure safe optimum LWD and wireline logging procedures are implemented and planned targets are achieved;
  • Produce and distribute daily geological and logging operation reports and data from rig site to Operations Geologist and RPE Department;
  • Check the WEOPS Drilling Program is in accordance with Geotechnical Program.
  • Attend pre spud meeting and contribute to the planning of the operations.
  • Supervise and check correct rig up of Contractors equipment involved in Geological operations.
  • Supervise and QC the activity of Contractors used for geological operations during drilling, mudlogging, LWD and wireline logging, coring and well completion.
  • Ensure correct transmission of geological data from the rigsite to Aksai office.
  • Prepare and provide Operations Geologist with daily geological report and daily logging reports and data interpretations and correlations.
  • Supervise collection and analysis of geological cuttings and core samples and ensure they are correctly packed and stored.
  • Check and validate geological service contractor reports.
  • Produce Final Well Report promptly with all relevant information concerning drilling, logging and coring operations.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

  • Mastery English is an advantage on this role;
  • Legislative and other regulative documents related to the area of responsibility;
  • Perspectives of technical development and peculiarities of the company activity (its departments);
  • Principles of operation, technical characteristics of engineering processes and projects;
  • Computer and telecommunication means;
  • Methods of exploration, rules and conditions of operations;
  • Main requirements to technical documentation, materials;
  • Current standards, technical conditions, governing documents regulating preparation of technical documents;
  • Methods of technical evaluation and definition of economical cost of works and operations;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with drilling operations, drilling technologies and operations geology;
  • Knowledge of log analysis, implement of quality control analysis and knowledge of Carbonate reservoirs;
  • Experience with well and geological database management and related application software;
  • Familiar with Mud Logging, Wire Line Logging and MWD technical specifications and standard procedures;
  • Previous working experience on carbonate reservoirs would be beneficial;
  • Can solve moderately difficult technical problems in a reasonable time-scale;
  • Complex degree of analysis and interpretation of information from different sources when solving problems;
  • Capable of moderate decision-making for either following detailed instructions on routine tasks, or modification of appropriate solutions (methods) within guidelines provided by the supervisor;
  • Capable to solve tasks and problems if delegated by direct supervisor.
