COATING SUPERVISOR

Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in the relevant speciality and not less than 4 years of work experience as per speciality or secondary professional education and not less than 5 years of work experience in production activity control.

Main functions:

• Ensure and conduct inspections of all materials being used for conformance with the standards, availability of safety data sheets, check of the shelf life and proper storage conditions.
• Ensure and conduct inspections of coating, insulation, metal spraying and fireproofing activities for the compliance with KPO Project Specifications and approved procedures, and manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Review all the method statements, inspection test plans (ITP) and quality control procedures (QCP) submitted by contractors for coating, fire proofing, repair by composite materials and insulation work to ensure compliance of them with KPO specifications and manufacturer`s instructions.
• Develop method statements on coating, fire proofing, repairs by composite material and insulation activity.
• Participate as a representative of the department responsible for repair works in the development of standards and specifications on coating, fire proofing, repairs by composite material and insulation work.
• Plan the scope of works and coordinate an execution with assigned Contractors’ representatives.
• Perform routine surveillance, inspection and monitoring of the coating, fireproofing, repair by composite materials and insulation activities carried out on the construction sites of KPO and/or Contractor’s workshops. Ensure implementation and make inspections of fulfilment of all requirements of the approved method statements, and procedures and accurate completeness of ITR’s.
• Ensure and make inspections of all materials being used are approved type, have safety data sheets, have valid shelf life, and stored properly
• Ensure all personnel employed and performing surface preparation, coating, composite material and fire proofing application are skilled and passed the qualification tests.
• Take part in qualification tests for the personnel performing surface preparation, coating, composite material and fireproofing application, and insulation installation to ensure they can perform the work in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and KPO specifications.
• Ensure and make inspections on that the Inspection & Test Plan of each activity is fulfilled and “hold points” of KPO team are completed in due time.
• Ensure the testing equipment serviceability and its operability according to calibration period.
• Prepare the scope of works, keep records and maintain verification of price quotations for coating, insulation, metal spraying and fireproofing activities, as well as associated works on thermal insulation and scaffolding works. Participate in calculation and order of necessary materials for the planned works.
• Participate in evaluation of contractor’s capability for coating, fire proofing, repair by composite materials and insulation activities.
• Systematically inspect Contractors workshops and construction sites and report / advise any problem or concern regarding HSE in particular for coating, fireproofing, repair by composite materials and insulation activities.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

• Local Rules and Laws, Codes, local and international Standards, best industry practices regarding coating and fireproofing;
• KPO Specifications and Procedures for coating and fireproofing materials and application;
• Rules for use of coating and fireproofing inspection tools and recording inspection results;
• KPO - HSE policy and procedures;
• Basic principles of Labour legislation;
• Norms and procedures of labour safety;
• Must be able to read and follow project procedures;
• Must be able to read and understand technical drawings, data sheets, forms, inspection test plans, etc.
• Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
