Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in the in HSE and ecological areas and not less than 4 years of work experience in the position of Safety Specialist.

Preferable to possess internationally recognised occupational certification in Occupational Safety and Health, e.g. NEBOSH Certificate, or Diploma.

Main functions:

  • Ensure that the workplace complies with relevant safety regulations and guidelines and provide advice and coaching to employees to improve safety awareness.
  • Provide advice, support and assurance on Contractor Safety Management strategy and process implementation; identify potential hazards, risks and opportunities, and develop solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Support the line manager and other team members in ensuring that Contractor Safety Management process and programs are fit for purpose and effectively implemented.Ensure delivery of high-quality work in time as required by line manager and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, reviews of the workplace to identify potential hazards and risks using various tools and techniques, such as checklists and risk assessments, to evaluate the safety of the workplace.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries. Ensure that these policies and procedures comply with international best practice, relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and provide training and coaching to employees to help them identify and avoid hazards.
  • Participate in incidents investigations to identify the causes and develop recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
  • Monitor the workplace to ensure that safety policies and procedures are being followed. Conduct and participate in regular safety audits and inspections to assess the effectiveness of the safety program.
  • Collaborate with other departments and contractor companies to ensure that safety issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest safety standards, regulations and guidelines to ensure that the workplace remains in compliance with relevant standards, laws and regulations.
  • Continuously seek and implement opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness of departmental processes and activities in HSE.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement the Contractor Safety Management activities in support of the objectives of KPO Management and provide direction to company personnel in executing contractor HSE management strategy.
  • Deliver Contractor Safety Management awareness training and coaching sessions.
  • Provide update of HSE clauses in the contract and provide support to company personnel in HSE in contracts process.
  • Perform prequalisfication and tender evaluation of contractors.
  • Coordinate and support contractor HSE performance evaluation.
  • Perform assessment of risk and mode of the contracts.
  • Perform tasks assigned by line manager that necessary to ensure delivery of Safety Controllership programs and objectives.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

  • mastery English is an advantage on this role;
  • working knowledge of HSE topics / vocabulary;
