Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in the relevant speciality and not less than 10 years of work experience in the position as Work Preparation Engineer.

Main functions:

  • Quality coordination of work preparation processes across various Units to ensure they meet Work Preparation and Scheduling standards and guidance to Discipline Engineers focal points, Field Department focal points, Contractors and KPC Workshop focal points to enhance their work preparation competencies. Perform assurance tasks in the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that comprehensive work packages are prepared by Discipline Engineers focal points, Field Department focal points, Contractors and KPC Workshop focal points, and these are detailing tasks, required disciplines, man-hours, materials, and services for successful job completion.
  • Preparation of quality work packages for activities where Maintenance Department holds an execution role and verifying readiness of materials, spare parts, and the backlog of work orders to ensure timely execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor if work requests are investigated by focal points to accurately identify equipment problems and define the scope of repair or maintenance work needed. Coordinate Discipline Engineers focal points, Field Department focal points, Contractors and KPC Workshop focal points (i.e. FDC Focal points) to ensure the process is in place.
  • Effectively analyse and coordinate the creation of detailed work packages, including task lists, required disciplines, estimated man-hours, necessary materials, and services, ensuring a streamlined and effective work process making use of FDC Focal points.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to FDC Focal Points on necessary corrections in terms of maintenance in work packages.
  • Supervise maintenance and update of equipment data files, which serve as a reference to assist with job planning and execution based on focal point feedback in liaison with Spare Parts and CMMS teams.
  • Coordinate with the Spare Parts team to check the availability of materials and confirm that work orders are ready for execution.
  • Facilitate collaboration between FDC Focal points and other relevant stakeholders (HSE, Operations Support, Spare Parts, CMMS, Turnaround) regarding technical issues, materials, and services, and preparation of necessary documentation such as Work Preparation (WP) and Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS) Control of Work (CLARA), where required.
  • Provide guidance to FDC Focal points involved in Work Preparation process to make sure all work Preparations are up to acceptable standards and executable during routine maintenance & turnaround.
  • Active liaison with Field Department, discipline engineers, spare parts team, Planning Engineer, IAP Engineers, logistics and CMMS team to provide inputs to spare parts coding and supply. Ensure work preparation to be adequately detailed, specified and recorded in CMMS.
  • Liaise with FDC Focal points to provide inputs to Maintenance Development based on maintenance execution feedback.
  • Promote constant improvement of CMMS content across all FDC Focal points.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

  • Mastery English is an advantage on this role; 
  • Deep understanding of maintenance strategies, work preparation processes, and the steps involved in defining scopes of work, including repair and maintenance needs.
  • Excellence knowledge of CMMS tool (SAP) for managing work order preparation, planning and execution.
  • Working knowledge of spare parts logistics, inventory management, and coordination with supply chain teams to ensure the availability of materials for work orders.
  • Work knowledge of Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), and Control of Work (CLARA) procedures as well as HSE requirements for work execution at site
  • Understanding of project coordination principles to ensure seamless collaboration among different stakeholders.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills to work effectively with Discipline Engineers, Unit Production and Maintenance teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze work requests, identify equipment issues, and define accurate scopes of work.
  • Experience in supervising the creation of detailed work packages, including tasks, disciplines, estimated man-hours, and necessary materials.
  • Ability to provide guidance, training, and coaching to various focal points and stakeholders involved in the work preparation process.
  • Experience in performing assurance tasks to ensure that work preparation processes meet departmental standards.
  • Strong computer software competences, including usage of SAP.
