Education and work experience:

Higher education or secondary technical professional education in chemical area and work experience in the position of Chemical Technician not less than 2 years.

Main functions:

  • Performing of analyzes and tests on determination of the chemical composition and physical and chemical characteristics of samples.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of the results issued by conducting of internal quality control, timely calibration and maintenance of instruments.
  • Development, testing and implementation of new methods of chemical analysis.
  • Perform analyzes and tests on determination of the composition and basic physical and chemical characteristics of raw materials, materials and finished products in accordance with regulatory document requirements.
  • Receive samples for performing of analyzes, register, carry out calculations and register the results of analyzes in the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) database. Conduct timely registration of the consumption of chemical reagents, laboratory glassware in the LIMS database. Submit to group Supervisor the information on the necessity to replenish stocks of chemical reagents, laboratory glassware, consumables required to perform works.
  • Ensure correct labelling and control over the shelf life of chemical reagents used and prepared solutions in accordance with procedure requirements.
  • Carry out an internal quality control (IQC) of the results obtained in accordance with established requirements and schedules, identify the reasons of obtaining of unsatisfactory IQC results and take measures to eliminate them, fulfill the duties of persons responsible for the accounting and use of certified mixtures, check the suitability for use of reagents with expired date of storage.
  • Take part in measures promoting a more rational use of chemical reagents, replacement of scarce / hazardous materials, waste disposal; measures to reduce the negative impact on the environment - the use of waste-free and low-waste analysis methods; measures to reduce costs for the purchasing of expensive reagents - search and use of cheaper analogues, control of reagent consumption, reuse for washing of the chemical glassware. 
  • Carry out maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment in accordance with established schedules and instruction requirements. Prepare solutions for calibration and verification when implementation and commissioning of new equipment. Prepare a quick guide/report per new equipment.
  • Take part in the research activities of the laboratory, which includes the development of measurement methods and new methods of chemical analyzes and the performance of works on collection of results and statistical data.
  • Prepare reports on the works performed, draw up the required tables, schedules and other paperwork. Prepare, correct, revise work instructions, procedures and manuals. 
  • Train the newly employed employees, if required, assist Laboratory Assistants in their daily works.
  • Comply with requirements of operating standards for measurement methods.

  • Theoretical bases of chemistry and chemical analysis methods;
  • Standards, regulations, instructions and other regulating acts on performance of laboratory analyses;
  • Main production processes;
  • Laboratory equipment and its operational rules;
  • Regulations of health and safety, fire and industrial safety;
  • Skills of working with laboratory equipment;
  • PC, MC Office and other software operation skills;
  • Preparation of solutions;
  • Determination of substance content in analysing materials using different methods;
  • Quantitative calculations of analysis results.
