Education and work experience:
Higher education (University degree or higher) in IT&T and preferable work experience not less than 2 years of work experience as Database Management Systems Engineer.
Main functions:
- Ensure the smooth operation of all components of database management systems and tools, and database instances as unitary objects (physical level of a database) in order to create conditions for effective and reliable management of the Company data.
- Update the state of database management systems and their components in accordance with the Company's business needs, technical, regulatory, licensing requirements, and innovative data management approaches in order to maximize the benefits from the use of information assets for the Company.
- Provide consultancy during database development (design), modernization and implementation to other IT sectors to meet the requirements and needs of business and users. But he himself is not involved in the development and modernization of the database structure.
- Carry out its activities under the guidance of the System Architect and ensure the implementation of tasks and functions for the undisturbed operation of database servers - Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
- Provide expert consulting support regarding the feasibility and aspects of using data management mechanisms and technologies, as well as patterns for solving certain data management tasks specific to a particular database management system for all interested sectors of the IT department, primarily for the IT Business Systems sectors.
- Perform infrastructure planning (in relation to software and hardware, taking into account the specifics of data management mechanisms and algorithms), configuration, changes, optimization of the environment for the deployment and operation of database management system components.
- Carry out the daily tasks of maintaining the functionality, reliability and efficiency of database management systems, and database instances as unitary objects of management.
- Implementation of planned projects for system modernization (software / hardware) in accordance with the lifecycle, improvement and implementation of new solutions in the field of RDBMS.
- Implementation of solutions designed by the IT Systems Architect in the part affecting the technical aspects of functioning (physical level of databases).
- Perform technical support for software of database management systems and related software and carry out actions in relation to it, such as installing, updating versions, applying patches, as well as taking part in the migration of databases as unitary objects (physical level of databases).
- Monitoring the entire database management system on a daily basis for various system parameters: performance, power, etc., control and monitor access to databases at the physical level, maintain database management system environment security.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures for database management system environment and database instances as unitary objects.
- Provide the IT System Architect with weekly reports, as well as statistical data on the performance of individual critical systems.
- Produce documentation according to IT&T change-control requirements and IT&T procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with the Contracts licenses agreement.
Necessary knowledge and skills:
- Pre-intermediate (A2) English level is an advantage on this role;
- Strong knowledge of personal computers, Windows and Unix (Linux) operating systems, file systems and data storage and processing technologies;
- Basic knowledge and experience of using script (scripting) programming languages;
- General knowledge of server and network systems, computer security;
- General understanding of the evolution and classification of database management systems, the main characteristics of DBMS, data management techniques and tools, algorithms and data structures, standards in the realm of database management;
- Professional knowledge of one of the MS SQL or the Oracle database management systems and related software, experience in deploying database management systems and database administration in an industrial environment;
- Professional knowledge of the SQL programming language, and one of the Transact-SQL or PL / SQL programming languages;
- Ability to design and practical use of relational databases;
- General understanding of the architecture of information systems and the corresponding terminology, experience in providing support to developers and information systems administration specialists, experience in identifying and eliminating problems and errors at the level of database management systems and databases. Professional knowledge of data access interfaces;
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks concurrently;
- Punctuality in routine activities;
- Ability to handle confidential information.
