Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in Process/Chemical area and preferable work experience not less than 2 years as Technical Safety Engineer.

Main functions:

  • Provision of technical safety engineering service and technical authority assurance to the project development process in the Karachaganak field.
  • Investigation of technical safety issues during engineering execution process
  • Technical support to changes and additions to the existing process system
  • Support to Engineering and Technical Authority Department of Project Execution Directorate.
  • Provide input for and prepare technical safety engineering-related reports under direction of Lead Technical Safety Engineer.
  • Complete assigned work on time to meet Department schedules and report progress of all assigned work to Lead Technical Safety Engineer.
  • Support to senior technical engineer in facilitation of risk assessments using a range of tools and software for the process hazard analysis and risk assessment (HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, FERA, EERA, Dispersion modelling, SIL, SCE Identification and Performance Standards development, What If, FMEA, Check List Analysis and etc.)
  • Study and submit proposals for the development and implementation of more advanced designs in protective equipment, safety interlocks, and other means of protection against exposure to hazardous and harmful factors.
  • Timely updates of tracking database of recommendations accepted during projects risk assessments.
  • Study best domestic and international technical safety engineering practice for use in KPO design work.
  • Support during projects risk assessment facilitation.
  • Provide Technical Authority assurance in line with Technical Authority Framework.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

  • upper-intermediate (B2) English level is an advantage on this role;
  • RoK and international codes, regulations and standards;
  • good knowledge of onshore oil and gas upstream facilities design and operation;
  • process safety engineering principles for chemical process facilities;
  • engineering practice for project concept selection, FEED study, detailed design, and follow-on engineering and close-out;
  • good knowledge of Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Assessment (HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, FERA, EERA, Dispersion modelling, SIL, SCE Identification and Performance Standards development, What If, FMEA, Check List Analysis and etc.);
  • emergency shutdown, fire and gas, relief and blowdown and similar technical safety topics;
  • technical report writing;
  • time management;
  • computer literacy;
  • good interaction capabilities in dealing with multi-national workforce both within and external to company.
