Education and work experience:

Higher education (University degree or higher) in drilling, oil and gas sphere and not less than 4 years of work experience in the position of Completion Engineer.


Main functions:

  • Provision of technical and organizational support during implementation of completion programmes;
  • Ensuring that programmes and procedures are developed in accordance with Policy for Document Management and sound engineering principles;
  • Design, establish and follow the established process of preparation of detailed well completion programmes, plans and procedures according to KPO policy, procedures and RoK regulations. Cost and risk assessment will form part of the design process;
  • Analyse well candidates for workover and well intervention and recommend the wells that could be included in the workover rig schedules;
  • Provide selection of completion equipment, tubing string, wellhead, X-mas tree. Verify the completion design by performing tubing stress analysis, torque and drag and hydraulics calculations;
  • Identify fishing and intervention tools, BHA for completion and workover operations;
  • Prepare technical part of tender documentation and evaluate technical and commercial bids submitted to tenders as required. To prepare evaluation reports and make recommendations as required;
  • Prepare wells completion AFE (Authorization for Expenditure). To track cost of completion operations and compare it with estimated cost. To ensure that well completion costs are within the budget estimates;
  • Provide equipment forecast for completion activity. To prepare Equipment Delivery Plans and place material orders accordingly;
  • Analyse well operations activities to make sure they are performed according to approved plans. To propose and recommend improvements to optimize completion operations. To work on the rig site as required for troubleshooting or during critical phases of the well completion. To work with various service vendors to ensure plans are achieved/implemented;
  • Participate in audits conducted by the KPO departments and RoK governmental agencies;
  • Coordinate and prepare recommendations and comment on EOWR (End of Well Reports) and continuous improvement programmes. To update lesson learned database and make recommendations for avoiding problems experienced in the past;
  • Keep track of latest new technological developments available in the market. To select and recommend the most promising ones to achieve completion objectives or to improve the quality of and saving time of routine completion jobs;
  • Co-operate along with the department and KPO functions in developing Supervisors and Completion Engineers. Be personally involved in planning of on-job training, follow up the training process, mentor and coach less experienced staff and get feedback regarding training progress. To provide on-job training for completion staff.

Necessary knowledge and skills:

  • Intermediate (B1) English level is an advantage on this role;
  • Organizational / management documentation, standards and technical procedures relating to the operational and business activities within the discipline;
  • Labour legislation basics;
  • Risk management and HSE management;
  • Solid understanding of cost-effectiveness and general commercial business issues;
  • Equipment and its operational regulations;
  • Prospects for the technical development of the company;
  • Policy for document management;
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environment in an operations team; 
  • Strong analytical approach to solve technical complex problems;   
  • Good skills with PC in Windows environment;
  • Ability to work with Landmark spreadsheet applications for stress analyses (Stress Check, Well Cat); ability to work with Prosper application for tubing performance analyses; ability to use software to perform wells diagrams and completion drawings.
